TTS Public Benefits Studio Introductory Blog

This blog introduces the GSA’s Public Benefits Studio, which partnered with agencies to build shared tools—starting with a multi-channel notifications service—to improve coordination and access across federal public benefits programs.

The post explains how the Public Benefits Studio aimed to reduce fragmentation across benefits (like Medicaid, SNAP, and unemployment) by creating shared infrastructure and best practices rather than reinventing solutions in each agency.

Their first focus is on simplifying and expanding outreach via text and email through a tool called Notify.gov, lowering technical and procurement barriers for benefits agencies. The authors also invite government, nonprofit, and vendor partners to pilot the tool, provide feedback, and help shape future Studio work to better serve underserved communities.
