CSNS New Mexico: Improving Online Infrastructure to Expand WIC’s Reach
New Mexico is integrating SNAP and WIC data systems to improve outreach and increase WIC participation.

The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) and Department of Health (NMDOH) are developing new online interfaces to share participant data between SNAP and WIC, making it easier to identify and enroll eligible families.
This initiative aims to streamline referrals, reduce administrative burdens, and improve client experiences by automating data exchanges and enhancing cross-agency collaboration. The project prioritizes outreach to underserved communities and incorporates human-centered design principles to improve service delivery. Long-term goals include expanding the model to other benefit programs and sharing insights with the WIC Mosaic Consortium to scale best practices nationwide.
