New York State Department of Health – WIC Program
The New York State WIC program website provides access to nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding/chestfeeding support, and referrals to eligible pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum individuals, infants, and children up to age five.
The most important times for growth and development occur during pregnancy and early childhood. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) improves the health and nutrition of parents, and their children during this critical time. Studies show that prenatal individuals who are enrolled in the WIC Program are more likely to have babies with a healthy birth weight, and children in WIC are more likely to do better in school.
