Youth Connector: How Seattle Aims to Transform Access to Youth Programs
A blog post describing Seattle’s Youth Connector initiative, a city effort to make it easier for young people to discover, access, and connect with youth programs and supports that promote mental health, enrichment, and opportunity.
This blog explains how the Youth Connector project emerged from research showing that many local youth do not know about available programs or how to access them, even though participation in enrichment and support services can improve well-being.
The initiative, funded in the city’s 2025 budget and informed by feedback from hundreds of Seattle teens, is exploring a user-friendly digital platform that organizes mental health, recreation, job training, and enrichment opportunities in one place and tailors discovery to youth interests. The post also outlines accompanying strategies such as social media outreach and peer engagement to reach disconnected youth and ensure the platform’s design reflects real needs and preferences.
