Mecklenburg County, North Carolina’s Coordinating SNAP & Nutrition Supports Impact Report

Through the Coordinating SNAP & Nutrition Supports program, Mecklenburg County, NC leveraged a Food Security Navigator model and data analysis to increase access to nutrition supports. This report documents best practices and lessons learned from their project.

The Coordinating SNAP and Nutrition Supports (CSNS) project in Mecklenburg County, NC, improved food security by streamlining access to nutrition resources and increasing SNAP enrollments through community collaboration and the Food Security Navigator model.

Key outcomes included 16,151 new SNAP enrollments, strong community engagement, and the creation of tools to overcome barriers such as lack of awareness and application challenges, though sustaining staffing and coordination remains an ongoing issue.
