Washington GenAI Report

Published in September 2024 in response to Executive Order 24-01, this report by WaTech provides a comprehensive strategy for how Washington State agencies can safely and effectively integrate generative AI into public operations.
It details the benefits, challenges, and use cases for GenAI—from improving accessibility and service delivery to enhancing data management—while emphasizing equity, transparency, and security. The document also introduces WaTech’s statewide sandbox environment, governance processes, and cross-agency collaboration mechanisms to promote innovation, ensure accountability, and protect public trust in AI-enabled government services.
