Making Public Benefits More Accessible in Minnesota

This report highlights work with Minnesota and includes nine suggestions for states seeking to launch their own integrated benefits applications

The report describes the collaboration between Minnesota’s Department of Human Services and Code for America to develop MNbenefits, a mobile-friendly application that streamlines the process of applying for multiple public benefits, reducing application time from about an hour to less than 15 minutes.

It highlights increased accessibility for over 240,000 residents, especially Tribal Nation members and communities of color, and emphasizes the value of human-centered design, agile development, and continuous feedback in creating effective digital services.
