Learning the Importance of Applying Human-Centered Design to Government AI Projects
Takeaways from a workshop focusing on applying human-centered design to government artificial intelligence (AI) projects, led by Elham Ali, Researcher from the Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation.
Government artificial intelligence (AI) projects must integrate human-centered design (HCD) principles to ensure that AI solutions align with user needs.
Elham Ali, a researcher at the Opportunity Project for Cities with the Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation at Georgetown University, hosted a workshop and shared best practices for applying human-centered design in AI projects. The workshop featured a moderated panel, who all worked with Ali in integrating human-centered design with generative AI in a community mobility data project. The panelists emphasized the importance of community co-design as the foundation of developing government AI projects.
