What we heard: Results from the AI Trust study on the official website of the Government of Canada

This blog post shares findings from the February 2025 AI Trust Study on Canada.ca, revealing how Canadians perceive government AI and what builds trust.

Published Year: 2025

The study surveyed over 1,500 Canadians from every province and territory to gauge their trust in generative AI on the national Canada.ca website.

It found that respondents were more trusting of AI-generated images than AI-generated text and that nearly half (47 %) favored a custom Canada.ca AI chatbot over tools like Google or Bing. Participants emphasized that transparency—such as simple citations and clear labels indicating both AI generation and human review—was essential to maintaining trust in the government’s digital services.
